I’ve always heard that the longer you are with someone, the more you start looking and behaving like one another. (So there’s hope for you yet Mr. Krukar. Kidding, of course!) Chris and I have only been married for 20 years, but in that span alone, I can attest to the truth of that statement. I cannot tell you how many time we have completed one another’s sentences, texted each other at the exact same moment, or even glanced at one another, knowing exactly what the other was thinking. There have also been numerous times when I’ll respond to someone and, in my own head, hear my husband saying the very same thing. I think it’s safe to say that we have rubbed off on one another, affirming what God intended in Genesis 2:24 when He said “the two are united into one.”  The longer we are together, the more we do life together, and thus the more like-minded we are.

With this in mind, how often do I spend time in the presence of my Savior? How often do I sit and soak in His Word, which is His love letter to me? Ultimately, as His child, it’s His desire for each of us to be a reflection of His Son. That doesn’t happen accidentally. It’s an intentional, purposeful, and ongoing relationship in which we learn more and more about His love and grace. It’s a daily walk with Him. It’s sharing our hopes and dreams, thanking and praising Him in all things, and seeking Him as we study His word.  So, the longer we are together, the more we do life together, and thus, the more like-minded we are. It’s God’s purpose to refine us, to make us more and more holy, more like His Son.

“I WANT MY BODY OF BELIEVERS TO BE RADIANT WITH THE LIGHT OF MY PRESENCE.”  (Excerpt from Jesus Calling, written by Sarah Young, © 2004)

In Exodus, when Moses would return from being in the Presence of the Most High God, “he would put a veil over his face to keep the Israelites from gazing at it while the radiance was fading away.” 2 Corinthians 3:13 (NIV) When Moses was before the LORD, the LORD was all over him. It was evident WHOM he had been with.

“And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord.” 2 Cor.3:18 (NIV)

Once I have done my best to live out the plan and purpose that God laid before me, and my life has come to an earthly close, it is my prayer that people will say they saw Jesus in me. I want it to be known and evident with WHOM I’d spent my time.

Wouldn’t it be awesome if that was said about every person of Okolona Christian Church? If a visitor came in our doors and experienced a Sunday here, would they leave feeling like He was all over us, that we were a people like-minded with Christ? My prayer for OCC is that we will be radiant with His Presence!
